Stretch, Rest & Relax is a 30 minute full body stretching routine from Jessica Smith. It is nice and gentle, and Jessica stretches you out thoroughly from head to toe. It is filmed in Jessica’s backyard. I think I’ve seen every inch of Jessica’s house–inside and out! Just from doing her workouts. Equipment: a mat, a beach towel and a pillow (or a yoga strap and yoga block). I didn’t end up using my yoga block but I did use my yoga strap.
This is a pretty basic deep stretching routine, so I will just summarize the stretches and the order they appear. You start standing and do neck stretches, some side stretches, chest and back stretches then circle the torso (side, floor, other side, overhead), hand/wrist stretches. Lower to the floor and do cat/cow stretch, child’s pose, tricep stretch, cobra, quad stretch while lying on side that transitions into spinal twist, deep kneeling lunge that transitions into modified lizard pose, half split stretch. Lay on back and use the towel or yoga strap. Wrap strap around arch of one foot and extend leg straight overhead, then open straight leg to side, then lower straight leg to the opposite side of body. Sit cross-leg and, using strap, stretch arms behind behind back (a tricep/shoulder stretch). Down dog into forward fold into standing. It ends w/ deep breaths w/ side stretches.
