Rockin’ Body Cardio Jam is a 51 minute cardio workout; 5 minute warm up, 40 minute training time and 6 minute cool down. I’ve had this workout for a long time and it is a good example of how our tastes change. I used to love it. I used to find it challenging. Now? I found it a low intermediate workout and I didn’t enjoy it. It was very dancey/choreographed. I do a lot of Michelle Dozois workouts and I love them overall—they are tough and they are athletic-style workouts; which I guess is the direction of my taste in workouts now: tough and athletic. I will admit that I have never liked dancey or highly choreographed workouts—so not sure why I ever liked this one, but I did. Rockin’ Body isn’t difficult to follow—I caught on to the moves pretty quickly, it just wasn’t fun and was kind of boring. It would work well as a recovery workout—except I won’t use it for that purpose because I have recovery-level workouts that I actually enjoy doing.
The workout consists of 6 cardio circuit routines. Each circuit is done twice on each side of the body for a total of 4 times. I found some of the moves awkward and some I just flat out didn’t like and chose not to do—like “shimmying”—not fun to me at all. There were some “kickbox-like” moves–not intense at all, some sort of athletic style moves but mostly aerobic moves. Michelle, in my opinion, has come a long way since this workout—at least cardio-wise (I remember liking her earlier strength workouts, too–but we’ll see when I actually do them again!). I recognized several of the background exercisers from her Peak10/PeakFit workouts—and they have come a LONG way, too! They are much thinner and more muscular in the Peak workouts. The Peak workouts have that effect on the body.
Even though I am a Michelle Dozois fan, I can’t recommend this one.
