AngieFitnessTV: Fit Over 40 Stretch & Unwind

Stretch & Unwind is Day 12 in AngieFitnessTV‘s Fit Over 40 program. This is a very relaxing stretch workout. It is a great little workout to use after a more intense workout that doesn’t include a cool down and stretch (or maybe an inadequate cool down and stretch), since the beginning is gently active, so it seconds as a cool down. This circuit has 10 stretching moves, each done for one minute. Then you repeat the exact same circuit. So if all you need or have time for is 10 minutes? Just do the first circuit–you are literally missing nothing since you are running through the exact same circuit again.

Stretch & Unwind is 20:44 minutes. Equipment: stability ball

  1. Stationary side lunge side to side, rolling the ball from hand to hand as you lunge; hold the side lunge stretch on each side
  2. With legs wide, roll stability ball forward and back, hinging forward at waist; keep ball rolled out, legs and arms straight, head hanging down between arms
  3. Lean on your side on stability ball, legs are straight, ankles crossed, top arm is extended overhead and to the side
  4. Lay on back on ball, feet on floor, hands behind head, back arched; release hands to floor
  5. Still on back on ball, roll forward so you are more upright but head is leaned back on ball, feet on floor, and do large arm circles
  6. Start in #5 position, cross one ankle over other knee and lower bottom closer to ground (figure 4 stretch)
  7. Repeat #3 on other side of body
  8. Come into kneeling lunge on floor, ball in front of you and roll ball forward so you are hinged forward at waist, hold this stretch
  9. Extended child’s pose with hands on ball; roll ball side to side while in this position
  10. Stand and place one leg on top of the ball, leg is straight, lean torso forward over the leg to stretch the leg
  11. Repeat #1-10
