AngieFitnessTV: Quick Power Walk Using Light Dumbbells

Quick Power Walk Using Light Dumbbells is part of AngieFitnessTV‘s 15 Minutes to Fit series. In a short video, Angie explains that she created this series of short workouts to use as finishers for another longer workout or you can combine several of them together into a longer workout (there are 26 total). That is how I used this workout–as a finisher to another, longer workout. They are perfect finisher workouts, too, because all of them include a short 2-3 minute stretch at the end.

Each exercise in this workout is done for one minute. You are doing basic low impact cardio walk moves such as heel digs forward and to the side, marching in place, marching forward and back, tapping to the front then to the side then behind you, alternating knee raises, hamstring curls, step out wide them back in, and double side steps. You are also doing arm movements using light hand weights. The arm movements include front punches, down punches, chest press arms, chest fly arms, front raises to side raises, overhead presses, upright row, and circling arms/DBs straight to sides. Even during the cool down you continue to use the DBs for large arm circles then you are doing stationary side to side lunges while punching hand weights down toward feet. In fact, you don’t set the dumbbells aside until 1 minute into cool down when you start the last 2 minutes of static stretching.

Power Walk Using Light Dumbbells is 18:54 minutes; 40 second intro, no warm up and 3 minute stretch. Equipment: light dumbbells (Angie is using 2 pound dumbbells). I also used 2 pound dumbbells and I found that sufficient for most of the moves to get a good arm burn. To increase intensity I also wore an 8 pound weighted vest, a 10 pound weighted belt and 2 pound ankle weights. According to my FitBit I was in my cardio zone the entire workout. I cannot give step count or calorie burn since I used this as a finisher to another workout so I can’t separate this workout from the total. But looking at the graph of my workout this morning, I can see that the last 19 minutes I was in my cardio zone.
