Cardio Step is part of AngieFitnessTV‘s 15 Minutes to Fit Series. In fact, this is the first workout Angie created in this series. I know I say it with every one of them I do but I adore these workouts. Angie created these workouts to be used as finishers and they are perfect for that but you can also stack several of them together for an excellent longer workout and that is how I used them this morning. I stacked two of them together for a 40 minute cardio step workout and man was I working hard! This workout is very simple and done interval style. Like many of Angie’s workouts, the intensity is up to you. She did the workout on a 6 inch step. I did it on an 8 inch step while also wearing an 8 pound vest. In 40 minutes (both workouts done back to back), I burned 379 calories and “walked” 4127 steps. I was in my peak heart rate zone for 20 minutes of the workout! So I got a great and intense cardio step workout. Unlike most of Angie’s workouts that I’ve been doing, this is not entirely low impact. Most of the workout is low impact, but she has jumping jacks and jogs at the end.
Cardio Step is 17:28 minutes; 2:30 minute warm up and 3 minute cool down/stretch. Equipment: step with risers (Angie’s step is at 6 inches). Each exercise is done for one minute. No combos are put together, so nothing to learn and remember. Simple but intense (again–the intensity is dependent on you–if you need more, like I did, raise the height of your step and/or add a weighted vest). This workout is made up of basic step moves such as corner to corner knees, Charleston kicks, 3 knee repeaters, hamstring curls, knee around the world step, double tap backs, jumping jacks on the step and on the floor, and jog on and off step.
