Torch & Tone: Box is a fun little cardio kickboxing workout from Linda @ Barlates. I actually purchased her Torch & Tone Series and her Metabolic Training Series DVDs and had planned to do all of the workouts on both DVDs this month. Then I discovered Heather Robertson and all of that was put on hold. I will do them eventually tho because they all look like great workouts. Since this one is only 35 minutes, I decided I could squeeze it in as a doubles workout.
There is a lot of boxer shuffling and jacks in this workout but the workout can be made entirely low impact and Linda shows you how. I didn’t make any of the low impact modifications and I burned 275 calories. Not bad! I was even in my peak heart rate zone for 5 minutes of the workout (according to my FitBit). Plus, as already mentioned, this is a fun workout.
Torch & Tone Box is available for free on YouTube. You can purchase the Torch & Tone Series DVD that contains 3 additional workouts. You can also purchase the download from Linda’s website.
Torch & Tone: Box is 34:30 minutes; 1 minute intro, 4:30 minute warm up and 3:30 minute cool down/stretch. Equipment: light dumbbells. Linda is using .5kg or 1 pound dumbbells and I used 2 pound dumbbells. The warm up reviews all of the punches you will be using in the workout. After the warm up you start doing a boxers shuffle (Linda calls it prancing). This is a cardio kickboxing workout with punch and kick combos that include jumping jack variations and burpees. The combos are usually pretty simple to catch on to but she does a lot of reps so you get some great cardio.
