Cathe Live: Quick Fix Cardio

Quick Fix Cardio is a short but intense little cardio workout from Cathe Live. I really enjoyed this workout. She starts out fast, too. There is no pause between the end of the warm up and your first exercise–snowboarders. And since you do 4 sets of snowboarders, she immediately burned my legs out. So I was pushing hard from the start. The exercises are all familiar exercises, some with an interesting twist on them. Overall, I really enjoyed this fast, intense little cardio workout. I did it on a Sunday and followed it up with one of my blender workouts for legs (STS bonus leg compilation)–it was a great day to warm up my body and legs before doing all that barre and mat work.

Quick Fix Cardio is 32:30 minutes long; 4:30 minute warm up and 2:30 minute stretch. Equipment needed: A set of 5, 8 & 10 pound dumbbells, high step platform only (no risers and no choreography), fitness mat. It aired live on 5/04/17 and here is the video clip.

  1. Snowboarders (4 sets total, 2 each side)
  2. Hammer down/knee slam
  3. Power 7 + 4 jacks + 4 air jacks (step topper) (6 sets total, 3 each side)
  4. Squat digs into sprint shooters (2 sets total)
  5. Weighted side-to-side sumo squats (double pulse + 2 singles) (one 10# DB)
  6. Step taps on step topper (both behind topper and straddle tapping)
  7. 4 traveling scissors moving laterally, 4 power jump lunges moving laterally in the opposite direction (she shows an alternate move–4 twist hops laterally and 4 bunny hops laterally in the other direction) (2 sets)
  8. Explosive alternating side lunges (one 8# DB)
  9. Power turning squats + step back (180 squat jumps w/ one foot on step) (2 sets)
  10. Weight shuffle, shuffle, drop squat (the length of your mat) (8# DBs) (when you “drop” you set one DB on the ground or pick it up)
  11. Repeat #10 (10# DBs)
  12. High reaching pop squat straddling mat
  13. Jump 2x laterally then jump forward and back
  14. Repeat #13  (one 5# DB)
  15. Jump shot w/ power knee repeater (using mat like a step)
  16. Mountain climbers w/ hands on step topper and angling feet in (2 sets)

    1. Ha! Yes, that’s what’s going on right now. I do need to get back to doing yoga on Sundays. But it’s true–I want to do all of my blender workouts and I have to save the long ones for the weekends.
