The Firm is not a trainer but I think it deserves its own page. The Firm was a company that put out some of the best home workouts out there. They are the workouts that got me hooked on daily exercise and helped to make it an integral part of my life. I was very sad when I discovered they had stopped making workout DVDs. The Firm was one of the first companies that created home workouts using dumbbells heavier than 1 or 2 pounds. They were my introduction to metabolic workouts. The majority of their workouts are circuit workouts that alternate cardio circuits with strength circuits. Even their pure strength workouts are circuit workouts that elevate your heart rate (i.e., metabolic). Their cardio workouts usually use dumbbells to increase intensity. Firm workouts are intermediate level workouts and almost always have a low impact/beginner modifier.
Firm workouts were generally released as systems and those systems came with equipment that was used in all of the workouts. However, many of their later workouts only use dumbbells, which makes them more accessible, especially since some of the equipment is no longer available (but you can substitute other equipment). There are a lot of trainers who led workouts for the Firm: Alison Davis, Allie Del Rio, Christa Riley, Emily Welsh, Janet Brooks, Jennifer Carmen, Jennifer Ray, Kelsie Daniels, Lisa Kay, Nancy Tucker, Pam Cauthen Merriwether, Rebekah Sturkie, Stephanie Huckabee, Susan Harris, and Tracie Long. There are more than that, but those are the ones I am familiar with.
I am breaking down the Firm workouts I’ve done and reviewed by series/equipment. At the very end are the workouts that either use no equipment, or had their own piece of equipment that came with that one workout. There are also a few that are not part of any system (that I am aware of).
