In addition to her many stretches and her lower body warm up, Heather Robertson also has another warm up that is great for any of her intense cardio and bodyweight workouts that do not contain a warm up. The first time I did this warm up (this morning), I used it before doing one of her strength workouts that did not include a warm up. It did the job of getting me ready for an intense Heather Robertson workout session.
The warm up is made up of circuit of 5 exercises. Each exercise is done for 20 seconds with 10 seconds of recovery. There is a counter in the lower right hand corner, counting down the 20 second interval and during the recovery a rectangle appears in the upper left hand corner, previewing the next exercise.
5 Minute Warm Up // Before You Work Out jumps right into the warm up–no intro. And it’s 5 minutes, as advertised. Each exercise is done for 20 seconds with 10 seconds of recovery. No equipment is needed.
- Jumping Jacks
- Cross Jacks (with legs wide, hinge forward and touch your foot with opposite hand then do 1 jack, alternate sides when touching foot with a jack between each)
- Squat & Reach (squat + side bend, alternate sides)
- High Knee Run
- Lunge & Twist (alternating reverse lunges with genie arms, while in lunge, rotate/twist arms/torso toward front leg side)
- Repeat #1-5
